Women As The Symbol Of Revolution

If there is any group of people who understand oppression better than anyone else it is women. As soon as girls learn to walk and talk, their parents and society start telling them what they can and cannot do. Don't talk too loud, don't hum, don't go out alone, don't stay out late, dress a certain way, walk a certain way, the list is endless. We get told that it is for our own protection because there are vultures out there. The boys are never taught how not to turn into vultures. With the number of restrictions put on girls from a young age, it is a wonder most of us don't die of suffocation by the time we are eighteen.

We survive because we are resilient. We live and thrive because we are strong. Whether a woman is a housewife or a working woman, she is stronger than a bunch of men put together because she fights oppression every day and then sits with her oppressors at the end of the day and eat her dinner with a smile on her face. There is a reason patriarchy has kept women oppressed for a long time because men know they can't stop women once they decide to snatch their rights from men.

Recently the video of a Sudanese woman went viral on Twitter. In the video, she is chanting anti-government slogans and is joined by protestors who have gathered in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, to demand the resignation of President Omar al-Bashir. The truth is, women have always been the symbol of revolution, the world is only realizing it just now.

For centuries, women have been the subject of oppression. They used to fight it in their individual ways but now, they are joining hands and you can rest assured that together they can bring down any oppressor that they want to. When women will gather in the streets and raise their placards and chant their slogans, the men will have no place to hide. With the video of the Nubian Queen going viral and inspiring many women around the world, men should prepare for the end of their rule.
